The Dovecote Gallery Grovewood Road, Misterton, D10 4EF Tel: 01427 892635 Halloween 2009 marked the opening of our new gallery which now forms an integral part of the Dovecote Café, both are situated adjacent to the popular Grove House Equestrian Centre. Our partners in this new venture Pip & Judy Stennett have firmly established their Dovecote Café as a well known venue for excellent quality food which is all produced locally. Judy oversees the superb cuisine and Pip, as a breeder of champion pedigree cattle with a world wide reputation, uses his wealth of knowledge to ensure the Dovecote menu presents healthy wholesome food which attracts clients from a wide area.  This has been an exciting new project as it offers me, as resident artist, the opportunity to have another permanent exhibition of my work in addition to that showing at our Low Burnham Studio.I hope the gallery will supplement the excellent facilities offered by both the Café and the Grove House Equestrian Centre. It is intended to offer painting demonstrations as "Themed Evenings" where diners and painting enthuisiasts will be able to book a meal for the evening and hopefully enjoy demonstrations in various mixed media followed by a question and answer session. For those wishing to participate fully there will also be Art Workshops on a monthly basis these will be mixed media sessions namely watercolour, acrylic and drawing. Friday mornings 10am – 1.30pm (with lunch at noon then Q & A) Sunday afternoon 2pm – 5.30pm (with tea at 4pm then Q & A) The cost will be £20.00 per person inclusive of the meal. Demonstrations & Workshops Schedule  I am delighted to be involved in this exciting new project and look forward to working with Pip and Judy, their existing Café has an extremely warm and friendly atmosphere which makes people want to come back time and again. The new gallery will replicate the Café ambiance, because galleries can instill a reticence in people which I hope Dovecote can overcome.  Art can be a very daunting subject however we are looking to make visitors feel comfortable and not afraid to ask questions on painting techniques and other aspects of the works on show. There will be lots of small original canvasses for children that will hopefully encourage them to have an interest in painting. I want to share my love of art through the gallery, the pace of life today is relentless and we often miss the most beautiful things that surround us, I hope to capture that beauty in any way that I can. Original works of art should be affordable to all and at Dovecote Gallery, in these difficult times we intend to offer excellent value in an amicable way. Thurs, Sat, Sunday 08.00 hrs to 17.00 hrs |
